Nancy Lee Richardson, age 81 of Elwood and formerly of Indianapolis, died November 3, 2013 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood. She was born on July 18, 1932 in Indianapolis to Kenneth and Rhea (Schang) Downs. Following high school, she received a scholarship to Herron Art School in Indianapolis and later attended Indiana University in Bloomington. Nancy was a homemaker and also formerly worked at Lazarus Department Store as a hostess in the restaurant and at Dr. Hiblin's office in Indianapolis. She formerly attended the Broadway Christian Church, and was active in the Goodwill Guild of Indianapolis. Nancy enjoyed playing the piano and gardening; and was an avid Cubs baseball fan.
Nancy is survived by her children, Michele (husband Dwayne) Daniels of Elwood, Greg (wife Kristy) Richardson of Indianapolis, JaNan (husband Steve) Olshever of St. Charles, IL, and Dawn (husband Steve) Wechter of Fishers; six grandchildren, Jacob, Emily, Madeline, Rachel, Nina, and Scott. She was preceded in death by, her parents; infant son, Michael Richardson; brother, Kenneth Downs; 2 sisters, Martha Kirkoft and Donna Freeman; and her former husband, Richard L. Richardson.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. at Union Chapel Cemetery in Indianapolis with Pastor Barbara Williams of the Tabernacle Christian Church officiating.
