Nancy Jo (Rinker) Reynolds , age 75 of rural Yorktown, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025 at Bethel Pointe Health Campus in Muncie with her husband at her side following an intense battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born Sept. 11, 1949 in Anderson, the daughter of Donald and Helen (Barrett) Rinker. Nancy grew up in the Alexandria area and was a proud graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School in the class of 1967. Nancy married her soulmate, Virgil C. Reynolds on Aug. 21, 1971, and they shared over 53 years of marriage together.
She graduated from Ball State University where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Consumer Science and was awarded a lifetime teaching certificate. Nancy was a devoted home-economics teacher at Anderson and Alexandria school systems and was a substitute teacher at numerous other schools in the area. She retired in 2015.
Nancy was an active member of Community of Hope United Methodist Church in Muncie where she was involved with U.W.F. (United Women in Faith) for many years. She was a 10-year member of the Madison County 4-H program and lifelong supporter of the program. Nancy was a 4-H judge and judge at the Indiana State Fair for 40 years, and she especially enjoyed judging pies. She had a lifelong love of flowers and gardening and was a member of the Delaware County Master Gardeners Club since 1991. Nancy will be remembered for her beautiful smile and gentle spirit which greeted everyone she met.
Nancy's family includes her husband, Virgil Reynolds of rural Yorktown; mother, Helen Rinker of Elwood; 4 siblings, Dale (Jane) Rinker of Yorktown, Betty (Tom) Crum of Anderson, Barbara (Mike) Ray of Middletown, and John (Lisa) Rinker of Alexandria; and 8 nieces and nephews, Lori Paskiewicz, Tony Crum, Bradley Rinker, Julie Fierce, Patrick Ray, Tiffany Van Natta, Kelly Habert, and Lance Rinker. Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Donald Rinker.
A memorial service celebrating Nancy's life and faith will be conducted at 3 pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Community of Hope United Methodist Church - 1968 W. Main Street, Muncie, Indiana - with Pastors Heather and Colin Cress and Rev. David Kyle officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 3 pm prior to the memorial at the church. Entombment will take place in the Perkinsville Cemetery at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF), 1209 W. Riggin Road, Muncie, IN 47303.
