Nancy C.
(Ragan) Terry
Oct 14, 1935 — May 6, 2018
Nancy C. (Ragan) Terry, age 82 of Lebanon and formerly of rural Alexandria, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at her home. She was born October 14, 1935 in Toone, Tennessee, the daughter of Oscar and Colar (Gibson) Ragan. Nancy was a 1954 graduate of J.B. Young High School in Bemis, TN. After starting her family, she later pursued her interest in nursing by attending Indiana University in Kokomo and became a Registered Nurse. Nancy worked at Mercy Hospital in Elwood, Community Hospital in Anderson, Ball Hospital in Muncie, and retired from St. John's Hospital in Anderson in 2012 after 40 years in nursing. She enjoyed flower gardening, caring for her home and yard, and researching genealogy. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting, having made many special pieces for family members. More than anything, Nancy's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Nancy's family would like to thank Dr. Mojgan Sarmadi and the entire staff of nurses and doctors at Witham Hospital for the exceptional care they provided for Nancy. Their care will never be forgotten.
Nancy's family legacy includes 3 children, Darlene (husband Chris) Posey of Elwood, Yvonne (husband Tim) Fruits of Thorntown, and Joe Terry of Sheridan; 7 grandchildren, Derek Stansberry (fiance' Belle), Lindsey (husband JJ) Johnson, Jared (wife Kathryn) Posey, Whitney Terry, JD Terry, Megan Terry, and Mandy Terry; 5 great-grandchildren, Madison Johnson, Kensie Johnson, Avery Johnson, Cedar Posey, and Wyatt Terry; good friend and caregiver, Anne Springer; and several nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and 5 siblings, Betty Jo Ragan, James Ragan, Earlene Futrell, JN Ragan, and Lloyd Ragan.
A memorial service celebrating Nancy's life and passion for nursing will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with family friend, Bruce Whisler, officiating. The service will begin with a St. Vincent (Anderson) Nursing Honor Guard memorial.
