Obituary

Monica Michelle "Shelly" Bradburn, age 58 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at I.U. Health – Tipton Hospital in Tipton after a brief illness. She was born March 17, 1957 in Ozark, Alabama, the daughter of Alden Miller and Delores (McKinnies) Yarborogh. She was a Family Nurse Practitioner (F.N.P.) at IU Health - Blackford Hospital in Hartford City. Shelly had also previously worked at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital as an Registered Nurse and later, the Madison County Community Health Center in Elwood as a Nurse Practitioner. She married Malcolm E. "Gene" Bradburn on September 29, 1990, and they shared over 24 years of marriage. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed raising and caring for her family. She was also very focused on continuing her education, and spent many years achieving her advanced nursing degrees. Shelly and her family formerly lived in California and she loved being close to the ocean. More than anything, she will be remembered as a person who loved nursing and caring for other people.

Shelly's family includes her husband of more than 24 years, Malcolm E. Bradburn; mother, Delores Yarborogh of Chicago; father, Alden (wife Sharon) Miller of Massachusetts and Florida; 2 sons, Jack Kenneth Bradburn of Elwood and Cole Eugene Bradburn of Elwood; sister, Melanie Ann Miller of Chicago; mother-in-law, Shirley (husband Kenneth) Bradburn of Elwood; sisters-in-law, Bobbi Fanning, Tracy (husband Fred) Albers, Kim Boes, and Robin (husband Bill) Copeland; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Jack Yarborogh.

A funeral service celebrating Shelly's life will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with family member, Rev. Jim McKinnies officiating. The funeral will also include a Nurse Honor Guard ceremony. Burial will take place at a later date privately by the family. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 prior to the funeral service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
