Obituary

Milton Edward Gough, Sr., age 89 of Elwood, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, September 20, 2015 with his wife by his side. He was born July 19, 1926 in Frankton, the son of Ferris and Mildred Pearl (Noble) Gough. He was self-employed as an auto body repairman and worked for many years at Lilly's Garage and later retired from the Elwood Ford dealership. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Milton married Helen C. Lilly on June 17, 1945, and they recently celebrated their 70-year anniversary. He was a member and past Worshipful Master of the Quincy Masonic Lodge #230 in Elwood; Past Guardian of the Elwood Job's Daughters; past Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star; member of the Shriner's Mini Bike Patrol; and a member of the Elwood V.F.W. Post 5782. Milton also formerly attended Grace United Methodist Church in Elwood for many years. Most of all, Milton will be remembered as a loving man who was very devoted to his family.

Milton's family includes his wife of 70 years, Helen C. Gough of Elwood; 4 children, Milton Gough, Jr of Indianapolis, Jennifer Kneller of Leesburg, Mary (husband Jeff) Dillon of Lebanon, and Jim (wife Charlene) Gough of Elkhart; 8 grandchildren, Adrienne (husband Shaun) Watts, Michelle (husband Eric) McKeown, Lanyng Saul, Travis (wife Kimberly) Saul, Courtney Dillon, Ben Dillon, Morgan (husband Neal) Bennett, and Mariah Parker; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Betty Gough.

A funeral service celebrating Milton's life will be conducted at 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Stan Alvey officiating and will include a Masonic memorial service at the start of the service. Military honors will be conducted following the service by the U.S. Military and the Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guard. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 PM on Thursday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
