Obituary

Mildred Pauline "P.J." Jordan, age 88 of Benson, Arizona, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Good Samaritan Quiburi Mission Nursing Home in Benson, AZ following an extended illness.  She was born on July 7, 1930 in Atlanta, the daughter of Clarence and Opal (Weaver) Jordan.  Pauline was a teacher for many years at Tuscon High School, Palo Verde High School, and was also Chair of the physical education department at Sahuaro High School.  She was a 1948 graduate of Wendell Willkie High School, and later attended Ball State University in Muncie earning a B.S. Degree in education with a major in physical education.  She was the varsity volleyball coach at Sahuaro High School and with her amazing players and her unique coaching techniques, they won three consecutive State Championships and multiple District Championships.  Pauline loved Sahuaro High School and said that her greatest regret was leaving Sahuaro.  She was always a Sahuaro Cougar and her blood ran red and blue. Pauline lived out the last three plus years at the Good Samaritan Quiburi Mission Nursing Home in Benson, AZ which became her home and the professional and support staff all loved her dearly.  They fought for her rightful benefits and took exceptional care of her.

Pauline's family includes several nieces and nephews, Kelly (Ron) Rush of Elwood, Amy (Steven) Jordan-Wigley of Elwood, Kyle (Crystal Murray) Jordan of Elwood, Rob (Laura) Jordan of Tipton, and Michelle Jordan of Tipton; 12 great-nieces and nephews; 14 great great-nieces and nephews; 1 great great great-nephew; and cousins, Michael (Darla) Hunt of Unionville, Janet (Gerald) Wilzbacher of Indianapolis, and Dorothy (Robert) Weidenmiller of Pasadena, FL.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, James and Mattie Jordan, maternal grandparents, William Earl and Arzula (Heflin) Weaver; 3 brothers, Jerry Jordan, Jimmy Jordan, and Ray Jordan; and aunt and uncle, Helen (Weaver) and Leroy Hunt.

Pauline elected to donate her body to the University of Arizona Medical School.  There will be no funeral or memorial service.  Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Good Samaritan Quiburi Mission, 850 HWY 80, Benson, AZ  85602 due to the exceptional care she received.   Local arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.
