Michelle Lynn Dockery, age 37 of Elwood and formerly grew up in Tipton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Franciscan Health Hospital in Indianapolis after a hard-fought battle with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma over the past year. She was born January 26, 1979 in Elwood, the daughter of Joseph Hunter and Carol (Callaway) Hunter. Michelle was co-owner and photographer for Dock's Photography in Elwood and a Superstar Scentsy Consultant for many years. She was a 1997 graduate of Tipton High School where she played the flute in the school band, and also later studied business courses at Indiana University Kokomo campus. Michelle married Brian C. Dockery on August 1, 1998. She formerly attended the First United Methodist Church in Elwood. Michelle was especially devoted to her family and caring for her 3 children. She enjoyed photography, taking pictures of her family, and she formerly took photos for the Elwood Call-Leader for many years. She also enjoyed shopping, Zumba class, crafting, and making specialty children's bows. She founded the "2nd Glance Consignment Store" in Elwood and the "Mom of 3 Princesses Consignment Store" in Tipton. She thoroughly enjoyed trips with her family to Great Wolf Lodge and Brown County. Michelle's love and courage will be greatly missed by her family; and her very last words at the hospital to her children were "I Love You".
Michelle's family includes her husband of 18 years, Brian C. Dockery of Elwood; 3 daughters, Mackenzie Caroline Dockery, Samantha Rose Dockery, and Emmalee Sophia Dockery all at home in Elwood; father, Joseph Hunter of Tipton; mother, Carol (Callaway) Hunter of Elwood; 4 sisters; Angie (husband Heath) Reynolds of Tipton, Carolyn (husband Chris) Neloms of Jackson, FL, Katie Feltner-Hunter of Cicero, and Amber Hunter; grandmother, Mary M. Callaway of Elwood; father and mother-in-law, John and Janis Dockery of Elwood; 3 brothers-in-law, J.D. (wife Becky) Dockery, Russell (wife Penny) Dockery, and Andy (wife Crystal) Dockery; sister-in-law, Carrie Hall; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, William and Mary Jean Hunter; and maternal grandfather, John B. Callaway.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church and her father-in-law, John Dockery officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Tipton. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 2 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
