Michael L. Whitlow, age 70 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 11, 2018 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following extensive health issues. He was born January 23, 1948 in Anderson, the son of Francis E. and Bernice I. (Cade) Whitlow. Mike attended school at the Indiana Academy in Cicero. He later proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Mike worked as an over-the-road truck driver for many years for several companies, and also formerly worked as a painter for many years. He enjoyed painting very much. He was baptized in the Christian faith in 2012 in Elwood, and it made an impact on his life. Mike was a member of the Elwood American Legion where enjoyed fellowship with his fellow veterans and friends. He also enjoyed going to auctions and watching car races at the Anderson Motor Speedway.
Michael's family includes 2 daughters, Judi of California and Bernice of Ohio; 3 sisters, Deborah Ebert of Summitville, Judy Crull of Anderson, and Ganell (husband Mark) Platt of Anderson; 3 brothers, Carl (wife Ruth) Whitlow of Delto, CO, Ronald (wife Karen) Whitlow of Summitville, and Dean (wife Trish) Whitlow of Spencer; best friend, Sonny Amos of Elwood; several grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patricia F. (Brazzel) Whitlow; brother, Gerald Allen Whitlow; and sister, Frances "Elaine" Jaynes.
Cremation will take place, and no formal services are planned at this time. Burial of his ashes will take place privately at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family offset unexpected final expenses. Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home has been entrusted with Michael's arrangements, and online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
