Michael H. "Mike" Ramey , age 78 of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Ascension - St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood.  He was born April 10, 1947 in Kokomo, the son of Richard Ramey and Veeda (Greathouse) Sharkey.  Mike proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war, and he remained a patriotic veteran.  He worked for over 30 years in maintenance at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood where he was well-known by the parish.  Mike married the love of his life, Comdee Gumpet, on November 5, 1970, and they shared over 54 years of marriage together.  He enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting.  Mike was a longtime member of the Elwood Conservation Club, and enjoyed shooting guns.  More than anything, Mike enjoyed living a quiet, simple life with the ones he loved.

Mike's family includes his wife, Comdee Ramey of Elwood; son, Joe Ramey of Elwood; sister, Jeanie (John) Chiles of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews.  Mike was preceded in death by his parents; 3 siblings, Martisha, Anna, and Tim; and a beloved daughter, Angie Ramey in 1998.

Mike's wishes were to be cremated and have a private burial.  He will be laid to rest next to his daughter at the Elwood City Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
