Michael K. "Mike" Kleinbub, age 71 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at his residence following a long-fought battle with cancer.  He was born November 26, 1946 in Elwood, the son of Max D. and Elizabeth Ann (Stinson) Kleinbub.  Mike worked at Red Gold Corporation in Elwood as a Production Supervisor for over 25 years and retired in 2011.  He was a 1965 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School, and later attended Ball State College for two years.  He married Mary Kathryn "Kitty" Miller on September 14, 1979, and they shared over 38 years of marriage together.  Mike was formerly an active member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood where he served as a Deacon and was involved in church administration.  Recently, Mike attended the Mercy Road Church in Carmel.  He was a former member of the Vintage Rollers Car Club and enjoyed driving his 1965 Ford Fairlane.  Mike was also a former member of the Elwood Country Club as a longtime golfer and former member of the Elwood Elks Lodge #368.  Through the years, he was involved with local sports programs as a coach for Elwood Junior High football, Little League baseball, and served as President of the Elwood Babe Ruth program for two years.  Recently, Mike was honored to be a member of the Elwood Redevelopment Commission (ERC), and he cared about the future growth of the Elwood community.  Mike was an avid racing fan and enjoyed numerous racing trips with Kitty in their motor home.  More than anything, he loved to spend time with his family and his grandchildren; and he loved to witness to others about his faith in God.  Mike's family finds comfort in knowing he is in his Heavenly home.

Mike's family legacy includes wife, Mary Kathryn "Kitty" Kleinbub of Elwood; 2 sons, Scott (wife Debbie) Kleinbub of Elwood, and Kris (wife Stephanie) Kleinbub of Fishers; brother, R. Kreig (wife Dana) Kleinbub of Elwood; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Kleinbub (fiance Damon Bogard), Abbigayle Kleinbub, Maxwell Kleinbub, Peter Kleinbub, and Elizabeth Kleinbub; nephew, Jason Kleinbub; niece, Elizabeth Kleinbub; and numerous in-laws in Kitty's family in the Indianapolis area.  Mike was preceded in death by both of his parents.

A memorial service celebrating Mike's life will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Josh Husmann of the Mercy Road Church officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to "Two:Eight Ministries" through the funeral home.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
