Metina Marie Miller-Dwiggins, age 44 and a life-long resident of Elwood, died Monday, February 11, 2013 surrounded by her family at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a short-term diagnosis of cancer. She was born January 3, 1969 in Elwood, the daughter of Brent H. Miller and Sherry (Hancher) Stewart. Metina was a reporter and photographer for the Elwood Publishing Company for many years, and was very passionate about her job. She was a 1987 graduate of Elwood Community High School. She was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her daughters and caring for her young grandson. Metina especially enjoyed listening to music, being active in the Elwood community, and socializing with friends and family. One of the highlights of her life was working with her extended family at the Elwood Call-Leader newspaper. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and co-workers.
Her family includes her father and step-mother, Brent H. and Maxine Miller of Elwood; 2 beloved daughters, Kaley A. Miller of Elwood and Shelby R. Dwiggins of Noblesville; and a precious grandson, Ethan Gunter of Elwood.
Metina was preceded in death by her mother, Sherry (Hancher) Stewart; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Peg Miller; and maternal grandparents, Bob and Jean Anne Hancher.
A Funeral and celebration of Metina's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
