Obituary

Melissa Sue "Susie" Teachnor, age 74 of Elwood, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness. She was born December 17, 1939 in Lapel, the daughter of Lee W. and Ruby B. Huffman. Susie was a homemaker and formerly worked as a waitress at East Star Inn restaurant in Elwood for several years. She was also formerly an Avon representative. She came to Elwood in 1952 and married Carl G. Teachnor, Jr. on February 15, 1971. She was a dedicated wife and mother, and enjoyed being with her family and especially loved her church family. Susie attended the Cornerstone Assembly of God in Elwood. She enjoyed shopping and working crossword puzzles. Susie liked to joke with people; had a great sense of humor; and always took time to talk with everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Susie's family includes her husband of 43 years, Carl G. Teachnor, Jr. of Elwood; son, Kevin Lee Teachnor (fiance' Candy Lynn Sink) both of Anderson; in-laws, Henri (wife Diana) Teachnor of Elwood, Suzanne (husband Jeff) Miller of Elwood, John Teachnor of CO, Becky (husband Bob) Peters of PA, Chick (husband Mike) Holtzclaw of FL, Jackie (husband Jeff) Curtz of Crawfordsville, and Danny (wife Trish) Teachnor of FL; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a large church family and many special nurses who truly adored her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Phil Huffman; 2 sisters, Marie Cunningham and Edith Fulton.

Funeral services celebrating Susie's life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Jim Palmer of the Cornerstone Assembly of God officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
