Obituary

Melissa Kay "Lissa" Clark , age 41 of Old Hickory, TN and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, TN following a long battle with COVID-19.  She was born November 25, 1979 in Elwood, the daughter of Billy Joe and Patricia Lynn (Phillips) Clark.  Lissa was a 1998 graduate of Elwood Community High School.  She currently worked for Tennaco Corporation (formerly known as Federal Mogal) for the last 16 years.  Lissa attended Olive Branch Missionary Church in Nashville, TN.  She loved animals and had the biggest heart for all kinds of animals.  Lissa was known to nurse many hurt and abandoned animals back to health.  She enjoyed crafting, gardening, and watching her favorite show, "Criminal Minds" on television.  Lissa and her good friend, Danielle, attended annual Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block concerts to celebrate their birthdays.  Lissa especially enjoyed driving, shopping, and absolutely loved living in Nashville.  More than anything, Lissa cherished spending time with her family, friends, and all of the people she loved.

Lissa's family includes her parents, Bill and Patty Clark of Tipton; 2 brothers, Matthew Clark of Tipton and Charles (wife Pam) Trout of Oseola; special friend, Darius Taylor and his son, D.J. of Tennessee; brother and sister by heart and not blood, Danielle (husband Brandon) Curry of Tennesse and David (wife Candice) Amos of Elwood; aunts and uncles, Fred Clark (Ursula Climer) of Tennesse, Betty (husband David) of Corydon, Nancy (husband David) Warren of Alabama, Maude (husband Fred) Knopp of Elwood, Rick (wife Pam) Phillips of Elwood, and Janie (husband Myron) Watson of Elwood; and several cousins.

Lissa's was preceded in death by all of her maternal grandparents, William R. and Willa Cuma Phillips; paternal grandparents, Hiram and Thelma Clark; 2 aunts, Christine (husband Lou) Sego and Bonna (husband Raymond) Wilhoite; and 6 uncles, Clyde Randolph (wife Debbie) Phillips, Bennett (wife Edna) Clark, Robert Clark, Rexie (wife Barbara) Clark, Earl Clark, and Timothy Clark.

A funeral service celebrating Lissa's life will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday prior to the service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.   Health precautions for the safety of the family and visitors are appreciated.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the animal shelter of your choice.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
