Obituary

Maurice D. "Jiff" Weismiller, age 87 of Elwood, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Millers Merry Manor in Tipton following a brief illness.  He was born May 2, 1931 in Windfall, the son of William E. and Gladys L. (Goodwin) Weismiller.  He retired from Tipton Community Schools where he worked for over 20 years as a custodian and maintenance person at several buildings in the school system.  He also formerly worked in production at Pioneer Seed Company, at the Tipton Plant, for 12 years.  He was a 1949 graduate of Windfall High School.  Jiff married Mary Ruth Leath on March 7, 1953, and they shared 42 years of marriage before her passing in 1995.  He was a devoted member of the Curtisville Christian Church for over 75 years where he had been active as a Deacon, a song leader and member of the church choir for many years, and a church board member.  Jiff was known for enjoying mowing and maintaining his yard and property on his John Deere lawn tractor; and he especially liked keeping his cars and equipment clean and tidy.  He especially enjoyed visiting Amish country in northern Indiana.  More than anything, he was devoted to his family and loved to watch all his grandchildren in their sporting events.  He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who will be missed by many people.

Jiff's family includes his daughter, Lou Ann (husband Tim) Clouser of Elwood; son, Maurice D. "Chip" (wife Chris) Weismiller, Jr. of Elwood; longtime companion of 24 years, Sandy Tucker of Elwood;  brother, Jack (wife Bonnie) Weismiller of Tipton; extended family members, Kim (husband Brad) Reynolds of Brazil, Missy (husband Jason) Alumbaugh of Pendleton, and Kurt (wife Hayley) Tucker of Plainfield; 3 grandchildren, Craig (wife Melody) Clouser of Westpoint, Jason (wife Derith) Clouser of Atlanta, and Courtney (husband Matt) Tinkle of Speedway; 6 extended grandchildren, Clint (wife Myranda) Reynolds, Dillon Reynolds (Makylie Siples), Brady Alumbaugh, Kaleb Alumbaugh, Eliana Tucker, and Gabriella Tucker; 5 great-grandchildren, Bailey Harper Tinkle, Emma Clouser, Peyton Clouser, Keliah Smith, Kaydence Smith ; 2 nieces, Peggy Wavra and Janet Coppock; and nephew, Bruce Weismiller.  Jiff was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Ruth Weismiller.

A funeral service celebrating Jiff's life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Dick True, former pastor of their church, and family friend, Pastor Rodney Ellis, officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Tipton.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.   Memorial contributions are suggested to the Curtisville Christian Church or the A.L.S.
