Mattie Knopp, age 88 of Anderson and formerly of Elwood, died September 27, 2011 at Edgewater Woods in Anderson after an extended illness. She was born February 4, 1923 in Livingston, TN, the daughter of Shirley and Pearly Hammock. She retired in 1972 from Coin King Laundromat in Anderson where she worked as a Laundromat Attendant for several years. She married Chester E. Knopp in 1972. Mattie formerly enjoyed square dancing, quilting, and sewing. She also enjoyed working in her yard, gardening and working with flowers. She especially loved to spend time with her family.
Survivors include: 5 Children – Willie Ray (Claudean) Tinch of Chesterfield, Bonnie (James) Dixon of Livingston, TN, Betty Harris of Rickman TN, Francis (Kenny) Woods of Anderson, Junior (Rosa) Tinch of Anderson; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Husband – Chester E. Knopp who died October 6, 1984; Parents; 2 Sons – R.C.Tinch and S.M.Tinch; Brother – Hollis Hammock; and 4 Sisters – including Hessie Cantrill and Ruby Hammock.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 1:00PM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Thursday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
