Matthew Scott “Matt” Doud, age 33, of Summitville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 20, 2026. Born November 11, 1992, in Indianapolis to Eric and Julie (Heltzel) Doud, Matt grew up in Kokomo and graduated from Western High School in 2011. He took great pride in working hard and spent over a decade at Park 100 Foods in Tipton before joining Progress Rail in Muncie as a specialist, where his passion for trains truly shined. Matt was a true provider for his family Matt cherished being outdoors, whether fishing or hunting, playing paintball, or enjoying time at the shooting range with family and friends. He had a special love for animals, especially horses, and found joy in collecting model trains and working with his hands. Matt liked to go roller-skating with family and friends. Above all, Matt treasured every moment with his family and found his greatest happiness in being a devoted husband to Amber D. Yeagley, whom he married on September 1, 2018, and a loving father to his children. Matt will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Matt is survived by his wife, Amber Doud of Summitville; parents, Eric and Julie Doud of Kokomo; 2 children, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Doud, and Xyaine Doud; 2 bonus children, Gwen Galley, and Shane Galley; sister, Katelin (Wesley) Doud of Russiaville; brother-in-law, Daniel Yeagley of Summitville; maternal grandfather, George Heltzel of Kokomo; grandmother-in-law, Mary Callaway of Elwood; uncles and aunts, Todd Heltzel of Kokomo, Michael (Debbie) Doud of North Carolina, Peggy (Brad) Buffum of Galveston, and Jody Shook of Kokomo; best friend, Zach Clark of Muncie; a niece due in December, Alice; and several cousins, friends, and extended family members.
Matt is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ruth Heltzel; paternal grandparents, Martin and Peggy Doud; and mother and father-in-law, Phyllis Runyan, and David and Shirley Yeagley.
A memorial service celebrating Matt’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Randy Burton officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 3:00 pm prior to the service on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the funeral home.
