Mary L. Waymire, age 83 of rural Elwood, took her last breath on Earth and her first breath in Heaven on Saturday, June 24, 2017 surrounded by her family at Community Hospital in Anderson.  She was born September 8, 1933 in Farmland, the daughter of Roy and Bessie (Williams) Derrickson.  Mary was a 1952 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School, and later married the love of her life, Von L. Waymire on September 7, 1952.  Mary was a homemaker and farm wife all of her life, and formerly worked for Delco Remy in Anderson for a brief time.  Mary was always by Von's side on the farm, running tractors, working ground, hauling grain, and cooking meals to bring to the field.  When you saw Von, you always saw Mary.  While doing all this, she still made time for her children, running Kathy to Majorette's or Monte to Boy Scouts.  She always put God first, and was a devoted member of Harmony Christian Church in Leisure where she was active in the Ladies Aid, watching children in the nursery, and any other activity where she was needed.  She and Von enjoyed spending winter months in Florida for many years, and had traveled extensively throughout the U.S., visiting 48 states.  Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking; and she was especially known for making delicious homemade noodles.  More than anything, Mary was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by her family and all who loved her.

Mary's family includes her husband of over 64 years, Von L. Waymire of Elwood; daughter, Kathy A. (husband Robert Jr.) Sallee of Elwood; son, Monte B. (wife Annette) Waymire of Fairmount; 2 sisters, Wilma Witt of Westchester, OH and (twin sister) Marjorie Spangler of Anderson; 11 grandchildren, Patrick Jordan (wife Katie) Schwab, Mallory (husband Jake) Gillihan, Jed Waymire, Jeremy Kyle Waymire, Jacob Ryan Sallee, Jaquelyn Raye Sallee, Dylan Conwell, Jada Vincent, Brennen Cordell Sallee, Beth Ann Sallee, and Krista Lynn Sallee; 2 great-grandchildren, Riley Gillihan and Hailey Gillihan; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Mary was preceded in death by both her parents and 8 siblings, Paul Derrickson, Loren Derrickson, Harold Derrickson, Don Derrickson, Raymond Derrickson, John Kenneth "Jackie" Derrickson, Wanda Derrickson, and Justine Scott.

Funeral services celebrating Mary's life and faith will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Harmony Christian Church in Leisure with Pastor Ron Meyer and Pastor Charlie Riley officiating.  Burial will follow in Knox Chapel Cemetery in rural Fairmount.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 2 to 8 PM at Harmony Christian Church, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Christian Church or Abundant Life Church, and envelopes will be available at the services.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood, and online condolences to the Waymire family may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
