Mary Kay Garst, age 88 of Anderson, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Primrose Assisted Living and went to her heavenly home. She was born March 13, 1938 in Elwood to Harold and Mary (Spies) Garst. She was a 1956 graduate of Alexandria High School. Then after completing her Bachelor’s & Masters from Ball State College, she was a librarian starting her career in Indianapolis. She moved to Muncie in 1968 where she attended St Mary’s Catholic Church and began working at Wilson Middle School as librarian until her retirement in 1995.

Kay is survived by many cousins and friends who love and will miss her very much. Kay is preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral mass celebrating Kay’s life and faith will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood with Father Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
