Mary Elizabeth "Mary Beth" Dial , age 67 of Elwood, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 in Anderson. She was born September 28, 1955 in Elwood, the daughter of Jacob C. and Mary E. (Williams) Dial. Mary grew up in Elwood and was a 1973 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School. She attended the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Elwood with her parents most of her life. Mary retired in 1995 from the Indiana Department of Corrections in Pendleton where she worked as a corrections officer in the Ladies ward for over 10 years.
Mary was all about spending time with her family and cooking delicious meals on a regular basis. She was especially known for her fried chicken. Mary enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, coloring adult coloring books, and playing cards and Yahtzee with her family. She also formerly enjoyed fishing and listening to music. More than anything, she absolutely loved spoiling her beloved grandchildren.
Mary Beth's family includes her mother, Mary Ethel Dial of Elwood; 2 daughters, Mary Minix of Elwood and Rae Anna Phillips-Marcrum of Anderson; step daughter, Kimberly Minix of Marion; 5 grandchildren, Andrew Harting, Shaudrey Adams, Adelynn Chisolm-Minix, Zachary Minix, and Anthony Short; former spouse and friend, Rex Minix of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews. Mary Beth was preceded in death by her father, Jacob Dial; 3 siblings, Vickie Diaz, Leanne Stansberry, and John Lee Dial; special cousin, Grant Dial; grandparents, Dorothy Lehr, John & Irene Williams, and Charles & Nellie Dial; aunt, Leona Hershey; and her first husband, Carl Phillips.
A funeral service celebrating Mary Beth's life will be held at 6 pm on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Mark Arnett officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Friday prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date in the Elwood City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Morrisett Center Food Pantry in honor of Mary's love of feeding others. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
