Obituary

Mary H. Adams , age 100 of Alexandria and formerly of Elwood and Anderson, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 2, 2021 at the Alexandria Care Center after a long, full life.  She was born June 10, 1921 in Elwood, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Starchman) Hancock.  Mary worked in production at Delco Remy in Anderson for 47 years and retired in 1989.  She also formerly worked at Kingsbury Ordinance Works in LaPorte County making bombs during World War II.  Mary was a member of the U.A.W. #662 in Anderson.  She attended Elwood schools and Elwood High School.  Mary enjoyed making a home for her family and especially enjoyed reading and spending time at Bass Lake for many years.  More than anything, Mary's family and grandchildren were the most important part of her life.

Mary's family includes a son, Paul Edward "Ed" (wife Judy) Beck of Elwood; granddaughter, Tracy Riser of Anderson; grandson-in-law, Leon Trueblood of Anderson; 4 great-grandchildren, Ashley (Danny) Jackson, JP (Adrienne) Jones, Nathan (Cindy) Trueblood, and Amanda Trueblood; 8 great-great-grandchildren, Trista, Braydon, Mason, Landon, Trenten, Nathalie, Mia, and Nora; a great-great-great-grandson, Jayce; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Mary was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Paul Beck, second husband, Orville Adams; the love of her life, Fred Biltz; granddaughter, Debra Trueblood; 4 brothers, Thomas, Frankie, Robert, and William Hancock; and a sister, Ann Minnix.

A funeral service celebrating Mary's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Brooks of the Frankton Christian Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Elwood.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm prior to the funeral on Monday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Health precautions for the safety of the family and visitors are encouraged as well as social distancing.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Frankton Christian Church.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
