Martha Lou Savage , age 85 of rural Elwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at her home following a brief illness. She was born August 13, 1934 in Elwood, the daughter of Frank and Esther L. (Stansberry) Padfield. Martha married the love of her life, Marvin D. Savage on April 9, 1960, and they spent over 53 years of marriage together until his passing in 2013. She worked in production at Airfoil Textron Corporation in Elwood for 35 years until retirement in 1991. Martha was known for enjoying dressing up with pretty clothes and putting on her makeup - no matter the day or occasion. She enjoyed listening to music, cleaning and caring for her home, and keeping everything organized. Martha especially lover her cat, "Chester" and she was a very family oriented person. Martha loved to spend time with all her family and always put their needs before her own. She led a very faith filled and private life. Martha's grandchildren are an amazing gift from God and she always supported them and cheered them on in all aspects of life. She will be greatly missed.
Martha's family includes 4 children, Mike (wife Connie) Majors of Elwood, Ron (wife Micky) Majors of Elwood, Lisa (husband Hassan) Aamoun of Elwood, and Mark Savage of Elwood; 2 step-children, Morris R. (wife Jan) Savage of Anderson and Rick Savage of Anderson; sister, Janet (husband Larry) Lanning of Anderson; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both her parents; husband, Marvin D. Savage; 2 brothers, Edward Padfield and James Robert Padfield; and 3 sisters, Violet Young, Ruth Atwell, and Judith Wilson.
A funeral service celebrating Martha's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Bill Johnston of Grace United Methodist Church in Elwood officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday prior to the service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Animal Shelter through the funeral home. Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
