Marilyn V.
Patton
Jul 17, 1943 — May 14, 2019
Marilyn V. Patton, age 75 of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood. She was born July 17, 1943 in Elwood, the daughter of Victor and Ruth (Gildersleeve) Allen. Marilyn was a 1961 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School. As a young adult, she was involved in the A.W.A. wrestling circuit as a female competitor. Marilyn was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood. She was a homemaker most of her young adult life, and later she managed the Hide-Away Liquor Store in Elwood for over 20 years. Marilyn enjoyed reading, learning about history, genealogy, and especially liked Egyptology. She was passionate about animals – and especially loved her cats. She also enjoyed talking on the phone to family members on a regular basis and many memorable trips to Vernon with her niece, Sandy. More than anything, Marilyn loved spending time with her family and attending church.
Marilyn's family includes daughter, Christine (husband Justin) Cupp of Monrovia; son, Michael (wife Corina) Patton; 3 grandchildren, Donovan, Alden, and Rhianna; a great-granddaughter; and several special nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by both her parents; 2 brothers, Charles Allen and Rolland Allen; and 2 sisters, Janis Fowler and Nancy Holtzclaw.
A Funeral Mass for Marilyn will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Monday, May 20, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood with Father Dan Duff officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home prior to departing for the funeral mass. In honor of Marilyn's passion for animals, memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Animal Shelter through the funeral home.
