Obituary

Marilyn Bowers Davis , age 97 of Frankton, was called home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Community Hospital in Anderson after a life beautifully lived in faith and devotion to family. She was born March 27, 1928 at home in Pipe Creek Township, Madison County, the daughter of Frank A. and Bessie J. (Allender) Bowers. Marilyn was a 1945 graduate of Frankton High School, and continued her education by obtaining a bachelor's degree from Ball State Teachers College and later her master's degree in textiles and clothing from the University of Wisconsin Madison. For over 30 years, she poured her heart into teaching home economics at Frankton schools, nurturing countless students with the same care and wisdom she showed her own family.

On Christmas day 1962, Marilyn married the love of her life, Keith M. Davis, and together they shared 31 blessed years of marriage until his passing in 1994. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she was a devoted and faithful member of the Community Church of Frankton, formerly Frankton First United Methodist Church. Marilyn walked closely with the Lord through her involvement in the Northern Indiana Emmaus Community, and served her community through the Madison County Extension Homemakers and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Her greatest joy was her family—she treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, whether on family trips or in the simple, sacred moments of daily life. Marilyn's legacy is one of unwavering faith, boundless love, and a life devoted to serving God and cherishing those He blessed her with.

Marilyn is survived by her 2 daughters, Naomi Davis of Frankton, and Miriam (Rick) Thresher of Frankton; 3 grandchildren, Kathryn Thresher, Matthew Thresher, and Gracie Thresher; sister-in-law, Betty Davis of Niceville, FL; cousin, Brian Tallant of Milford, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.  Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith M. Davis; father and mother-in-law, Smithson M. and T. Irene Davis; brother, Joseph F. Bowers; sister, Betty J. Mock; brother-in-law, Ronald S. Davis; and sister-in-law, Janet Rager.

A funeral service celebrating Marilyn's life and faith will take place at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Bob Preusz of Community Church of Frankton officiating.  Burial will follow in PeeWee Cemetery (The Prince of Peace Cemetery) in Anderson.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service on Monday, February 16, 2026 at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Community Church of Frankton Scholarship Fund through the funeral home.  Online condolences and stories may be shared with the Davis family at copherfeslermay.com.
