Marie L. McMinn , age 82 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 30, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness, but a well-lived life.  She was born March 15, 1937 in Elwood, the daughter of Joseph A. and Roberta I. (Franklin) Brown.  Marie was a 1955 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School, and later obtained nursing assistant training.  She married the love of her life, George E. "Eddie" McMinn, Jr. on August 4, 1956, and they spent over 57 years of marriage together until his passing on September 26, 2013.  She had a very strong faith in the Lord.  Marie was a dedicated lifelong member of Main Street Wesleyan Church in Elwood where she was involved with numerous church committees, church dinners, bible studies, and enjoyed singing in the choir.  She worked as a nurse aide and an assistant at Mercy Hospital in Elwood and later Dr. Berghofer's medical office.  Marie was a very active member of the community serving in the Landon Guild, Elwood Kiwanis Club, Ladies Auxiliary at the Pipe Creek Fire Department, and a longtime coordinator for the Elwood Seniors Prom.  Marie formerly served on the Oakland School PTO and later volunteered at the Elwood Elementary School as an aid for many years.  She was also a dedicated volunteer alongside her husband, Eddie, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital for many years and enjoyed interacting with patients.  Marie loved to socialize with everyone she encountered and always had a smile on her face.  She especially enjoyed attending the Elwood Concerts in the Park since its inception.  More than anything, Marie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Marie's family includes 2 sons, Edward J. (wife Carol) McMinn of Anderson and Rodney A. (wife Lisa) McMinn of Elwood; grandson, Joey McMinn of Elwood; brother, Kenny (wife Yevonne) Brown of Lapel; step-grandson, Jason Boyer of Anderson; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Sophie and Carson Boyer; and niece, Hannah Brown (fiance Jared).  Marie was preceded in death by both her parents and her beloved husband, Eddie McMinn, in 2013.

A funeral service celebrating Marie's life and faith will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Tim Becker of Main Street Wesleyan Church officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home and will include a St. Vincent Mercy Hospital Volunteer Memorial at 7:00 pm.   Memorial contributions are suggested to Main Street Wesleyan Church or the Landon Guild through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
