Obituary

Marie Rose Cunningham, age 87 of Marion and formerly of Elwood, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Marion General Hospital in Marion after a brief illness. She was born on August 16, 1925 in Noblesville, the daughter of Lee W. and Ruby (Stern) Huffman. She retired in 1983 from Delco-Remy Corporation in Anderson where she had worked for more than 30 years. She also worked for a short time at Brockway Glass in Lapel and later attended beauty college in Anderson and then apprenticed in Noblesville. During her beauty career, Marie worked in several beauty shops in Anderson and then managed one in Columbus. Marie grew up in the Perkinsville and Lapel area. She attended school in a one-room school house in Perkinsville and later graduated from Lapel High School. She married Ronald W. Cunningham. After her retirement from Delco Remy in 1983, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado and enjoyed several years there before returning to home and family. Marie was a devoted Christian after accepting Christ at an early age. She attended Zion Chapel Church in Elwood where she taught Sunday school. She was later a member of Lydia Baptist Church in Marion where she was Baptized by Pastor Mark Combs. Marie put God first in her life through dedicated prayer and faith. She was a wonderful prayer warrior. Marie was an avid collector of porcelain dolls, and also enjoyed cooking, reading her Bible, and listening to Christian music. She loved her family and was a loving daughter, wife and mother. She was greatly loved and will be truly missed by her family.

Her family includes 2 sons by the late H. Lloyd Foshee, Robert (wife Betty) Foshee of Gas City and Ralph Foshee (companion Stormy Warrick) of Elwood; sister, Susie (husband Carl) Teachnor of Elwood; 3 grandsons, Derrick Phillips of Kingston, TN, John Reddick of Anderson, and R. Wayne Foshee of Elwood; 3 brothers-in-law, Lawrence Fulton of Frankfort, Bob (wife Nita) Cunningham of Wilfred, and Glen (wife Patty) Cunningham of Shelburn; sister-in-law, Carolyn (husband Mike) Jones of Terre Haute.

She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life and husband of more than 22 years, Ronald W. Cuningham who died January 7, 1994; sister, Edith Fulton; brother Phillip Huffman; 2 brothers-in-law, Rick Cunningham and Charles Cunningham; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Huffman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Burial will follow in Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM on Wednesday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
