Marian E. Crimans
, age 92 of Noblesville and formerly of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Wellbrooke of Westfield following a brief illness and a well-lived life. She was born December 15, 1925 in Bemidji, Minnesota, the daughter of Harold and Mae (Freeman) Stone. Marian worked for the Elwood School Corporation; first in the guidance office for several years and later as an English teacher for 18 years. She also later was a substitute teacher in Elwood for many years. She was a 1943 graduate of Short Ridge High School in Indianapolis and later received her Bachelor's degree in sociology from Butler University and her Master's degree in education from Ball State College. She married the love of her life, William H. "Bill" Crimans on August 23, 1947, and they shared over 58 years of marriage together until his passing in 2006. Marian grew up in the Indianapolis area prior to marriage to Bill, and they moved to Elwood to start Bill's insurance business and raise their family. Marian currently attended the First Presbyterian Church in Noblesville, and was formerly a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Elwood. She was a member of the Westminster Society, Tri-Kappa Sorority, the American Association of University Women, the Hamilton County Extension Club, the Blatchley Nature Study Club, and several Bridge card clubs. Marian especially enjoyed reading; and she and Bill were formerly active volunteers at the Indianapolis Historical Society. She also enjoyed productions of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and programs at the Indiana Repertory Theater in Indianapolis. She will always be remembered for her great sense of humor and her love of all her family.
Marian's family includes 4 children, Thom (wife Kathy) Crimans of Corydon, Janet (husband Charles) Moore of Milan, Peggy (husband Michael) Mika of Wilmington, DE, and Patrick Crimans of Noblesville; 9 grandchildren, Jenny (husband Ian) Pettus, Mark (wife Justine) Crimans, Robert Moore, Matthew (wife Kindra) Moore, Margaret (husband Joe) Nardi, Meagan Mika (husband Victor Green), Patrick (wife Patsy) Mika, Stacey Crimans (husband Jarrod Mayer), and Timothy Crimans; 12 great-grandchildren; and a nephew, James Cohen. Marian was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A funeral service celebrating Marian's life will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church in Noblesville with Rev. Eric Gale officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday prior to the service at the First Presbyterian Church in Noblesville. Burial will take place at 2:30 pm Tuesday afternoon at the Elwood City Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, the First Presbyterian Church in Noblesville, or the Blatchley Nature Study Club through the funeral home.
