Margaret E. Arehart , age 78 and a longtime resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, September 23, 2019 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood after numerous health complications. She was born January 5, 1941 in Alexandria, the daughter of Wayne and Ruby (Heflin) Crull. She attended Elwood schools, and later married the love of her life, Frank L. Arehart on December 7, 1957 and shared over 61 years of marriage together. Margaret had a very close relationship with her lord and savior, and she attended Central Wesleyan Church in Elwood where she was an avid prayer warrior. She read her bible every day and enjoyed attending bible studies on a regular basis. Margaret worked in food service in school cafeterias at Elwood, Mount Vernon, and lastly at Pendleton until she retired in 2001. She liked to watch soap operas, and her favorites were "Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful". She enjoyed watching Indianapolis Colts football. Margaret was especially faithful at attending all of her grandchildren's sporting events, as well as keeping up with everyone on Facebook. She will be remembered for caring for all her family and cooking regularly for them through the years. More than anything, Margaret was a devoted Christian, a loving wife, a devoted mother, and doting grandmother.
Margaret's family includes husband of over 60 years, Frank Arehart of Elwood; 4 children, Rhonda (husband Rusty) Davis of Kokomo, Brenda Collins (Tony Aranjo) of Ft. Wayne, Frank Alan Arehart of Elwood and Scott (wife Melissa) Arehart of Elwood; brother, Melvin (wife Lisa) Crull of Bedford; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents;2 daughters, Jodi L. Arehart and Sheila Marie Arehart; brother, Jack Newcombe; and 2 sisters, Myrna Mason and Sharon Kistler.
A funeral service celebrating Margaret's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Ben Capshaw of Central Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Central Wesleyan Church through the funeral home. Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
