Obituary

Marcus Aaron Lee , age 54 of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Indiana Heart & Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis after an extended illness and several health challenges.  He was born August 27, 1971 in Elwood, the son of Ralph E. and Mildred L. (Bogard) Lee and was baptized at a young age. Marcus was a 1990 graduate of Elwood Community High School before entering the U.S. Navy and completing strategic weapons school and submarine school.  He proudly served in the Navy as a Missile Technician, MT3 (SS) on the USS Simon Bolivar during the Gulf War and remained a devoted patriot for his country all of his life. Marcus worked as a risk and safety consultant for many years for Royal & Sunalliance where he took great pride in the quality of his work.

Marcus never met a stranger and could initiate a conversation with almost anyone, anywhere.  He was truly interested in other people and went out of his way to get to know them. Family was truly the center of Marcus' life.  He loved his parents very much and remained close to them his entire life.  Marcus' children were the most important thing in the world to him.  He cherished time spent with them and would do anything to help them.  His daughters will always remember Marcus' huge heart for other people.

Marcus was a member of the NRA, Elwood Conversation Club and was an avid gun enthusiast.  He especially loved spending time with his friends at Hoosier Armory in Noblesville where he would socialize for hours and talk with customers about their needs at the store.  Marcus will be remembered as a devoted son, father, grand-dad, and friend.  His family is comforted knowing he has been relieved of his health challenges and is reunited with his parents in Heaven.

Marcus' family includes his two daughters, Rebeca (Tim) Flannery of Elkton, Maryland, Abigale (Stephen) Foy of Medaryville and son, Philip Morris of Plymouth; two sisters, Doris Lee-Shaw of Muncie and Sharon (Brian) Haynes of Elwood; two grandchildren, Laila Elizabeth Flannery and Abraham Sutton Foy; a grandson expected soon, Liam Aaron Flannery; nieces and nephews, Christopher (Debbie) Shaw, Melissa (Jon) Bucur, and Kaylee (Doug) Rosenbaum; and many friends.  Marcus was preceded in death by both his parents and a special grandmother, Cora Bogard.

A funeral service celebrating Marcus' life and legacy will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Tim Hester of Grace Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Elwood V.F.W. honor guard.  A gathering will follow the burial at the Elwood Conversation Club to honor Marcus' wishes to "go out with a bang".  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the funeral home on Friday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the NRA through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com
