Madonna J.
Scott
Jan 14, 1924 — Jan 26, 2020
Madonna J. Scott , age 96 of Marion and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Colonial Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in Marion after a long, well-lived life. She was born January 14, 1924 in Greentown, the daughter of Clyde and Zelpha (Miller) Williams. Madonna's mother, Zelpha, passed away three months after her birth. Clyde was then married to Cecil Williams, and they raised Madonna together with many siblings. Madonna worked for 22 years in production at Essex Wire Company in Elwood until the business closed. She was a former member of Harmony Christian Church in Leisure. Madonna had a passion for cooking and baking, and was referred to as the "Noodle Lady" for many years. She loved nothing more than preparing meals and dishes for family and friends to enjoy. Earlier in her life, she enjoyed playing cards with friends; and in recent years she continued that enjoyment of cards playing "Skip-Bo" with her friends at the nursing home. More than anything, Madonna was devoted to caring for her large family and cooking for them at every opportunity. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Madonna's surviving family includes 5 children, Shirley Cole of Carmel, Carolyn (husband Richard) Heaton of Elwood, Judi (husband Tom) Riggs of Fairmount, Chuck (wife Linda) Scott of Syracuse, and Bill (wife Carol) Scott of Elwood; daughter-in-law, Sue Scott of Marion; sister, Susie Gavin of Marion; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Madonna was preceded in death by her father, mother, and step-mother; son, Ron Scott; grandson, Aaron Scott; in-laws, Claude and Dorothy Scott; and 9 siblings, Mary Powell, Tence Williams, Naomi Porter, Lester Boswell, Joan Shellen, Faye Williams, Willis Boswell, Juanita Comer, and Malcolm Williams.
A funeral service celebrating Madonna's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Josh Shoemaker of Harmony Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Knox Chapel Cemetery in rural Fairmount. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Thursday prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
