Obituary

Lyle A. Robinson, age 67 of North Port, Florida and formerly of Elwood, died Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital following complications from heart surgery. He was born March 19, 1947 in Elwood, the son of Charles F. and Marjory V. (Balser) Robinson. He retired from the Guide Lamp division of General Motors in 2002 where he had worked in production for more than 37 years. Lyle was a 1965 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School and attended Indiana University for a year on a football scholarship. He also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Lyle was a beloved member of the Elwood Elks Lodge #368 and was voted Elk of the Year for 2005-2006, and he remained a loyal member of the Port Charlotte Elk's Lodge after his move to Florida. He was also a member of the U.A.W. 663, Eagles Lodge, V.F.W., and American Legion. Lyle was an avid fan of Indiana University Basketball and Notre Dame Football. He enjoyed fishing and dedicated many hours of his time coaching little league and youth baseball teams in Elwood. Lyle was very devoted to his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Lyle's family includes 4 children, Kim Faulstich of New Castle, Ryan (wife Samantha) Robinson of Elwood, Eric Robinson of Elwood, and Chris Robinson of Elwood; sister, Karin (husband Bob) Johnson of Windfall; 8 grandchildren, Garrett Robinson, Phillip Lantz, Devon Robinson, Erin Robinson, James McCarley, Brayton Thomas, Landon Robinson, and Nolan Robinson; former spouse, Karen (Etchison) Robinson of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Charles Denton "Denny" Robinson and Michael "Skinner" Robinson.

A funeral service celebrating Lyle's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rich Leavell officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery with Military honors will conducted by the U.S. Military and the V.F.W. Honor Guard teams. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 PM on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the funeral home and will include an Elk's Memorial Service at 7 PM at the funeral home.
