Obituary

Lucille (Davies) Barnes , age 92 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 24, 2021 at her home surround by family members after a long, well-lived life.  She was born November 27, 1928 in Elwood, the daughter of Jenken J. and Pearl (Hurst) Davies.  Lucille was a graduate of Elwood High School.  She married the love of her life, Ferol L. Barnes on August 19, 1950, and they shared over 56 years of marriage together until his passing on October 18, 2006.  Lucille worked for many years as a telephone operator for Indiana Bell Telephone where her husband, Ferol, also worked.  She was a lifelong member of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood and had served on numerous committees at the church through the years.  She was a member of Jobs Daughters and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  In recent years, she enjoyed the company and care of her family members and caretakers, Cheri Davies, Sheila Hobson, and Sue Stathers.  Her family finds peace knowing that Lucille and Ferol are reunited in Heaven together forever.

Lucille's family includes special nieces and nephews; Cheri Davies of Elwood, Sheila (husband Bill) Hobson of Elwood, Vicki Caldwell of Kokomo, Bill (wife Susie) Davies of Chicago; and Tim (wife Keri) Davies of Peru; special cousin, Deral Ann Beckley of Elwood; devoted caregiver, Sue Stathers of Elwood; and many more extended family members.  Lucille was preceded in death by both her parents; husband, Ferol Barnes; 3 siblings, Velma Porter, Bill Davies, and Jack Davies; and a nephew, Jack "Marty" Davies.

A memorial service celebrating Lucille's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 11, 2021 at East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.  Burial of her ashes will take place at the Elwood City Cemetery privately at a later date.  Health precautions for the safety of all attendees are appreciated.  Lucille's arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the East Main Street Christian Church Building Fund through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
