Lori Leigh
Stiner
Mar 15, 1956 — Mar 31, 2019
Lori Leigh Stiner, age 63 of Alexandria, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born March 15, 1956 in Elwood, the daughter of Delone "Craig" and Margaret Ann (Blubaugh) Stiner. She was a 1974 graduate of Elwood High School, and later obtained degrees in law enforcement and nursing. Lori worked as a nurse for over 15 years in Pennsylvania and Florida until she retired in 2003, and previously was employed as a Deputy Sheriff in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood. Lori enjoyed flowers, and gardening at her home. She had a deep love for animals, especially her cats. Lori liked to watch college basketball to cheer on the I.U. Hoosiers, and football to cheer on the Indianapolis Colts. More than anything Lori will be remembered as a very independent woman, who took great pride in caring for her family.
Lori's family includes longtime partner of 20 years, Mike K. Nichols of Alexandria; sister, Gail (husband Jerry) Wakeman of Cicero; brother, Jerome Craig Stiner of Ludlow, PA; 4 nieces, Laura Stiner of Seattle, WA, Kristen (husband Jason) Quimby of Frankton, and Kayla Quimby and Emerson Stiner; 2 nephews, Aaron (wife Danna) Stiner of Seattle, WA, and Tyler Quimby; and several cousins. Lori was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service celebrating Lori's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Father Dan Duff of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Elwood. Per Lori's wishes there will be no formal visitation. To honor Lori's love towards animals, memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Animal Shelter through the funeral home.
