Loren Herbert "Herb" Brummet , age 73 of Elwood and Tipton County, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at his home. He was born September 26, 1948 in Elwood, the son of Ora H. and Betty J. (Stafford) Brummet. Herb graduated in 1966 from Wendell L. Willkie High School before entering the U.S. Marines and serving his country during the Vietnam War. He married Donna M. (Holder) on June 22, 1968, and they shared 51 years of marriage before her passing in 2019. Herb worked in production at Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo for 29 years and was still currently working right up until weeks before his passing.
Herb enjoyed a simple life. He enjoyed fishing and actually fished competitively earlier in life. Herb enjoyed tinkering and working in his garage and spending time outdoors working around his property. He was a member of I.T.P. Union #1. Herb especially enjoyed Harley Davidson and John Deere memorabilia for many years.
Herb's family includes 2 brothers, Steven D. Brummet of Elwood and Jerry G. (wife Charlotte) Brummet of Tipton; 2 nieces, Kylie Brummet and Lori Simmons; nephew, Johnathon Simmons; and 4 great-nieces and nephews, Ahlivya Brummet, Josiah, Xander, and Jai. Herb was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Brummet, son, Jason Brummet, sister, Linda Simmons, Brother, Gary Brummet, and special dogs, Downer, Tuck, and Meghan.
A funeral service celebrating Herb's life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, February 11, 2021 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Scott Blaylock of Life Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. A brief visitation will held from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to the funeral on Friday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Health precautions for the safety of the family and visitors are appreciated. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Tipton County.
