Lisa E. Shannon , age 54 of Muncie, and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at her home following several health challenges. She was born March 6, 1967 in Elkhart, Indiana, the daughter of Frederick E. and Dona Dell "Dotie" (Fernung) Groover. Lisa formerly enjoyed working at White's Greenhouse and Nursery in Georgia for many years. She was also a dedicated homemaker. Lisa married Joseph Shannon on July 18, 1986, and they shared 35 years of marriage together.
She was a member of the Elwood American Legion and Elwood V.F.W. where she enjoyed playing pool and playing bingo. Lisa was known for crocheting beautiful afghans and listening to older country music on the radio. She especially enjoyed drinking coffee all day long. Lisa was absolutely dedicated to her family and loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Many family friends also lovingly referred to her as "Mama Lisa" as she was considered a mom to everyone around her.
Lisa's family legacy includes her husband, Joseph Shannon of Muncie; 2 children, Joseph "JW" Shannon (fiancé Christy) both of Alexandria and Sasha (husband Tyler) Janney of Muncie; 3 beloved grandchildren, Lily, Ari, and Zach; 5 siblings, Butch (wife Rhoda) Groover of Tipton, Peggy Cole of Muncie, Kenneth (wife Shirley) Clymer of Elwood, Mary Louise (husband Mike) Groover of Elwood, and Donald (wife Beverly) Groover of Elwood; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lisa was preceded in death by both her parents and a nephew, Clint Groover.
A funeral service celebrating Lisa's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Larry Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the funeral on Wednesday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Health precautions for the safety of the family and visitors are appreciated. Memorial contributions may be made to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
