Linda Lou Phillips , age 81 of Elwood, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 3, 2024 at her home after a long, full life. She was born Sept. 2, 1942 in Alexandria, the daughter of Wylie Bruce and Deloris Geraldine (McCune) Hamilton. Linda worked at State Plating in Elwood for 35 years in the buffing and packing departments and retired in 2005. She was a longtime member of the Elwood V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary where she enjoyed fellowship with friends. Linda was blessed with a 19-year relationship with her loving companion, William "Bill" Cox of Elwood. Linda especially enjoyed playing bingo and solving word searches. She always took pride in the appearance of her home and property. More than anything, Linda cherished time spent with her children and all her family.
Linda's family includes 4 children, Julie Jeffries of Missouri, Tina Dennis of South Bend, Phil (Donna) Parker of Moonsville, and Sherry (Greg) Middleton of Elwood; 3 siblings, Morris Hamilton of Ridgeville, Mike (Dreama) Hamilton of Alexandria, and Sharon Harmeyer (companion Jim) of Tennessee; 7 grandchildren, Randi Abbott, Bridgette Abbott, Rocky Swift, Courtney Parker, Katie Parker, David Payne, and Rickie Payne (companion Jacklyn Bolan); 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Bruce Hamilton and Deloris Hamilton; and longtime companion, William "Bill" Cox.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 7, 2024 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood with good friend, John Wilson, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
