Obituary

Linda M. Fox, age 84 of Atlanta, died Friday, July 15, 2011 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne following a brief illness. She was born on February 22, 1927 in Noblesville, Indiana the daughter of Floyd Cecil and Margaret E. (Pritchard) Fox. She was a 1944 graduate of Walnut Grove High School. She received a B.S. degree from Ball State University in 1948, and an M.A. degree from Ball State University in 1964. She received her Administrator-Supervisor certificate in 1973. She was a teacher for 34 years and principal for 7 years at Frankton Elementary School and retired in 1989. Linda was selected as Teacher of the Year in the West Central School Corporation in 1976 and was one of the finalists in the Indiana Teacher of the Year program. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. Linda was an active member of the Aroma United Methodist Church in Aroma, where she taught Sunday school classes for children, youth, and adults. She served as a counselor in youth camps sponsored by the church and worked as a counselor in work camps in deprived areas of West Virginia and Arkansas in the mid 1960's. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, and was a longtime caretaker of the Aroma Cemetery. She was also a member of the Beta Mu chapter of Delta-Kappa-Gamma Sorority.

Survivors include: 2 Sisters – Eleanor (Russell) Moore of Arcadia and Mary Jane (Evan) Farmer of New Haven; 17 Nieces & Nephews; 34 Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews and 20 Great-Great Nieces and Great-Great Nephews.

She was preceded in death by: Parents; Sister – Phyllis L. Jacobs; and 2 Brothers – Kenneth W. Fox and Robert Lowell Fox.

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Dick Judson of the Aroma United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Hurlock Cemetery in Hamilton County. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 2-8 PM at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.
