Linda Lou Moss-Benefiel, age 74 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 16, 2017 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following an extended illness. She was born January 7, 1943 in Elwood, one of six children of Idress and Nellie (Wilson) Davenport. She attended Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood, and later became a Q.M.A in nursing care. Linda formerly worked as a Qualified Medical Assistant at Parkview Nursing Home in Elwood for many years, and later retired from working at Chore Time / Brock Silo Company in Warsaw. She formerly attended both the Cornerstone Assembly of God and Central Wesleyan Churches in Elwood, and was an avid supporter of Christian missions through the Wesleyan church. She was a former member of the Elwood Moose Lodge and had been selected as Queen during that time. Linda enjoyed drawing, caring for her flowers, crocheting, and baking all kinds of homemade items to give to friends and family. More than anything, Linda was devoted to her family and especially her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are 3 children, Elaine Moss (companion Dale Bogard) both of Elwood, Kim Robinette of Elwood, and Michael (wife Peggy) Moss of Warsaw; 4 siblings, Jerry (wife Mary) Davenport of Elwood, Barbara (husband Keith Barber) of Elwood, Becky McCray of Alabama, and Debbie King of Elwood; 3 grandchildren, Travis Coots, Brittany Moss, and Emma Moss; 4 great-grandchildren, Temper, Damon, Haylynn, and Henley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by both of her parents; brother, "Buck" Davenport; former husband, Dillard Moss; and beloved dog, "Ellie".
