Obituary

Lawrence H. "Boogie" Faulstich, age 85 – a lifelong resident of Elwood – died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following a brief illness. He was born May 3, 1927 in Elwood, the son of Charles P. and Lottie R. (Bond) Faulstich. He retired in 1991 from Airfoil Textron in Elwood (formerly Ex-Cello Corporation) where he worked in production for over 20 years. He also previously worked as a foreman at the Steven's Spring Company. Boogie was a 1945 graduate of Elwood High School, and later served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. He married Virginia L. Blair on December 19, 1946. He was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood and was a member of the V.F.W. post 5782 in Elwood. He was known for having many natural talents including writing poetry, playing several musical instruments, and drawing pictures and cartoons. He was the cartoonist for the Textron worker's union newsletter and also enjoyed playing music for the Miss Glass events, local nursing homes, and hootenanny's with friends. Boogie enjoyed playing horseshoes, fishing at his favorite "secret" spots, and shooting pistols and target practicing. He especially enjoyed entertaining his family as "Boogini" at family functions, and loved practical jokes. He was also an avid Colts football fan and enjoyed playing miniature golf.

His family includes 8 children, Michael L. Faulstich of Elwood, Timothy L. (Joyce) Faulstich of Elwood, Dennis L. (companion Candy) Faulstich of Kokomo, Christopher A. (Patricia) Faulstich of Elwood, Dana F. (Candy) Faulstich of Pine Island, FL, Angela Thornburgh (Fiancé Patrick Green) of Elwood, Shawn P. Faulstich of Elwood, and Michelle Lowe of Anderson; 23 grandchildren; 36 Great-Grandchildren; 11 Great Great-Grandchildren; very close friend, Phyllis Johns of Tipton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Boogie was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 56 years, Virginia L. (Blair) Faulstich who died in 2003; daughter, Faith R. Faulstich; 5 brothers, Orville Faulstich, Everett Faulstich, Sylvester Faulstich, Bernard Faulstich, and Paul Faulstich; sister, Agnes Lineberry; grandson, Wade Faulstich, and son-in-law, Bobby Thornburgh.

A funeral mass will conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, August 13, 2012 at St. Joseph Church in Elwood with Father Keith Hosey officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood where military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Military and the V.F.W. Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood, and will include a Rosary Recital at 5:00 PM and a V.F.W. Memorial at 5:15 PM.
