Laura E.
Buckner
Sep 6, 1962 — Apr 10, 2025
Laura Ellen Buckner (age 62), of Fishers, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 6, 1962 in Elwood, the daughter of Hal S. and Emma (Bennett) Waymire. Laura was a 1981 graduate of Elwood High School, and furthered her education by earning a Bachelor's degree from Ball State University in fashion merchandising and marketing. Laura married the love of her life, Stephen L. "Steve" Buckner on November 12, 1992, and they shared over 32 years of marriage together. She worked for many years at the non-profit, The PourHouse as Operations Manager. She was a member of East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood. Laura felt a passion for her work, as she wanted nothing more than to help everyone she encountered. While at work, she would make sure everyone had the encouragement to continue following in the right path.
Laura's laugh, humor, and beautiful smile were only a small part of what made her beautiful. She always found a way to encourage, support, and truly care for everyone. Laura had a personality that could light up a room and never met a stranger. She would make sure everyone she met felt seen, heard, and loved. She was very adventurous when it came to wanting to learn new hobbies. Laura was artistically gifted, liked to repurpose old furniture, and would create beautiful sentimental keepsakes for her family and friends to cherish for years to come. She also enjoyed collecting unique antique items. Laura loved animals, as some would refer to her as the "animal whisperer". She had countless special pets over the years. Laura will be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Laura's family includes her husband, Steve Buckner of Fishers; three sons, Jake Buckner of Fishers, William Buckner of Fishers, and Reilly Buckner of Fishers; parents, Hal and Emma Waymire of Noblesville; two sisters, Angela (Tom) Cassidy of Tipton, and Susan (Jeff) Hall of Noblesville; brother-in-law, David (Miera) Buckner of Fishers; seven nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and nephews.
