Obituary

Larry A. Browning , age 65 of Cold Springs, KY and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Nov. 11, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY after several health complications.  He was born Aug. 9, 1958 in Elwood, the son of Harley M. and Margie (Kennedy) Browning.  Larry attended Elwood Community High School with the class of 1977.  He served in both the U.S. Army and later the U.S. Marines immediately after high school.  He was a proud and patriotic veteran.

Larry worked as a licensed butcher for a well-known butcher shop in Cincinnati where his work was personally requested by discerning customers.  He was extremely accomplished in his work.  As a young person, Larry was raised in the Bethel Baptist Church in Elwood.  He especially loved the game of baseball and held numerous home-run records in Elwood for many years.  In recent years, he enjoyed a simple life.  Larry enjoyed socializing with friends and having a drink with his buddies.  He was formerly a member of the Elwood American Legion.  After his retirement due to health issues, he worked at the V.A. Hospital in Cincinnati in the dietary department to help his fellow veterans.  Larry was also known for his love of the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds.  He will be greatly missed.

Larry's family includes his mother, Margie (Kennedy) Briles of Elwood; 3 children, Larry and wife Kelly of Nebraska, Mikel and wife Nicole of Leesburg, and Ashley of Elwood; 5 siblings, Jeanette Middlesworth of Noblesville, Cheryl (Stephen) Ripberger of Tipton, Jennifer Amos of Elwood, Brandon Wheeler of Ohio, and Tyson Wheeler of Elwood; 5 grandchildren, Brayden, Larry II, Brooke, Claire, and Eliza; good friend, John Lawrence "Larry" Sendelbach of Cold Spring, KY; and several nieces and nephews.  Larry was preceded in death by his father, Harley Browning and sister, Mary Katherine Browning.

A graveside funeral service for Larry will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Marion National Cemetery in Marion with Pastor Ken Morgan, former pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Military and Elwood V.F.W. honor guard.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warriors Project.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Online condolences may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
