L. "Kay" Wallace , age 81 and a longtime resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025 surrounded by her family at Ascension-St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following an extended illness.  She was born February 20, 1944 in Tipton, the daughter of Richard and Delores (Plake) Myers.  Kay attended Elwood Schools and later became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) working at several, local nursing facilities.  She last worked at Millers Merry Manor in Tipton and formerly worked at Dickey's Nursing Home in Elwood and Autumnwood at Tipton Hospital for many years.  Kay loved interacting with her patients and became close friends with many of them through the years.

Kay was known for being a lively person with a feisty character who was friendly with everyone.  She was passionate about animals and especially loved spending time with her beloved pets, Ace and Cinnamon.  Kay also enjoyed reading, crocheting, traveling, and watching crime shows of all kinds.  She found enjoyment planting flowers and maintaining beautiful flowers around her home and simply spending time outdoors in the sun.  Her lively side always surfaced when she was having fun at the Casino and often going home a winner.  She loved her family, friends, and especially her furry friends.  Kay's legacy spirited attitude will live on in all the cherished family members she leaves behind.  She will never be forgotten.

Kay's surviving family includes 5 children, Angela (Rick) Gerard of Elwood, Lisa Gralow of Elwood, Robin Taapken of Anderson, Tom "Tink" Wallace of Elwood, and Cheryl Conwell of Noblesville; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Myers and Delores Ireland; brother, Chuck Myers, and infant son, Raymond Blakely.

Cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Elwood Animal Shelter or the Heart of Hoosierland Humane Society through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories of Kay may be shared with her family at copherfeslermay.com.
