Kimberly J. Atwood , age 59 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Elwood Health and Living following an extended illness.  She was born January 28, 1960 in Elwood, the daughter of Eugene and Jeannie (Whitaker) Atwood.  Kimberly attended Elwood schools.  She overcame her disabilities early in life with a good attitude and positive outlook on life.  She enjoyed coloring and playing bingo very much.  Kimberly never met a stranger and could make friends with anybody.  Everyone who knew Kimberly loved spending time in her presence.  More than anything, Kimberly loved visits with her family and spending time with her friends at Elwood Health and Living.  Her family would like to thank all the nursing staff at Elwood Health and Living for many years of exceptional care for Kimberly - especially nurses Mary and Diane for their extra efforts to make Kim feel special and comfortable in her home.

Kimberly's family includes 2 brothers, David Atwood of Elwood and Teddy Atwood of Orestes; 2 sisters, Martha Hardesty of Illinois and Ellen (husband Dwayne) Young of Tennessee; and special nieces and nephews.  Kimberly was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Steve Atwood; and sister, Donna Jeske.

Cremation was chosen and no formal services will take place at this time.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Health and Living Activity Fund through the funeral home.  Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home is honored to handle Kimberly's arrangements.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
