Aug 6, 1955 — Jul 10, 2025
Kim Ann (Morehead) Mowrey, age 69 of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, July 10, 2025 after a brief illness. She was born August 6, 1955 in Elwood, the daughter of Harold "Bud" and Juanita "Jane" (Coil) Morehead. Kim was a 1973 graduate of Alexandria High School before earning a bachelor's degree in engineering from Purdue University. She later completed her master's degree in business at Indiana Wesleyan University. Kim was currently the Senior Buyer in the purchasing division of Toyota-Boshoku Corporation where she worked for the past 8 years. Prior to this, she was in leadership positions with other companies and enjoyed traveling in various capacities with her company. Kim married David E. Mowrey on June 30, 1988, and they shared 37 years of marriage together.
As a lifelong fan of Purdue, Kim always cheered on the Purdue Boilermakers in every possible way. She was also passionate about scrapbooking and listening to her favorite musician – George Strait. Kim enjoyed traveling with her family to various areas of the country through the years, and she especially enjoyed visiting New Orleans. In recent years, she was blessed to move back to rural Elwood where she lived and renovated her parent's farm property and home. Kim had a caring heart for animals and loved spending time with her beloved dogs, "Brees, Payton, and Edey" and her special cat, "Dusty". Kim leaves a beautiful legacy of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren that will live on forever.
Kim's family includes her beloved husband, David E. Mowrey of Elwood; 5 children, Andrew (Amber) Jones of Marion, Duane A. Mowrey (Lori Gibson) of Noblesville, Steven K. Mowrey (Deb Keefe) of Marion, Timothy E. Mowrey of Anderson, and Michael D. (Jill) Mowrey of Anderson; 2 brothers, Jerry Lee Morehead of French Lick and Kenneth H. (Kathy) Morehead of Alexandria; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Kim was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Dean Morehead.
