Obituary

Kenneth C. "Kenny" Seward, Jr. , age 58 of Elwood, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on Monday, August 4, 2025 at his home.  He was born December 21, 1966 in Elwood, the son of Kenneth C. and Claudia S. (Leisure) Seward, Sr.  Kenny was a 1985 graduate of Tipton High School and grew up in East Main Street Christian Church.  He entered into a lifetime of service to the U.S. Navy in 1986 where he remained until retirement in 2006.  During his 20-year military career, Kenny worked as an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) pilot for several years in addition to being an F-18 Maintenance Technician / Air Framer.  Kenny retired from the U.S. Navy as Petty Officer – 1st Class.  He proudly served during Desert Storm and the Gulf War, and remained a proud patriot for his country.  Kenny married Christina Bohr on November 12, 1988 in Lemoore, California, and they shared 30 years of marriage together before her passing in 2018 in Maryland where they were residing.

Kenny continued working with aviation machinery and equipment in the private sector after retirement from the military, and he enjoyed this very much.  He was a member of the Tipton Elks Lodge, the Elwood V.F.W. post 5782 where he formerly served as a Trustee, and the Marion AMVETS.  Kenny enjoyed traveling with his family to many beautiful destinations, but spend numerous years as the "Week 28" vacationers in Hilton Head, SC.  He found enjoyment playing golf and billiards as well as bowling on numerous leagues through the years.  Kenny also enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts and secretly rooting for the Corn Huskers.  More than anything, he loved spending time with his grandkids who lovingly called him Paw-Paw.  Kenny leaves behind a legacy of family members who will never forget his impact in this world.  Kenny's life represents the very fabric of the U.S. Navy core values – Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

Kenny's family includes his parents, Ken and Claudia Seward of Elwood; 3 sons, Anthony "A.J." (Carli) Seward of Rigdon, Heath T. (Briana) Seward of Grand Blanc, MI, and Dr. Joseph "J.T." (Victoria) Seward of Denton, TX; brother, Scott Seward of Chesapeake, VA; companion of many years, Judy (Shaw) Rittenhouse of Elwood; and 7 beloved grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia, Elaina, Natick, Abigail, Caliope, and Sofia.  Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Christina Seward and special brother-in-law, Todd Bohr.

A funeral service celebrating Kenny's life and legacy will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of Heritage Christian Church officiating.  Cremation will follow the service, and burial will take place at a later date in Park Cemetery in Fairmount with the Seward family.  Military honors honoring Kenny's dedication to his country will be conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Elwood V.F.W.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the funeral on Saturday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Heritage Christian Church, the Elwood V.F.W., or Riley Children's Hospital.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
