Obituary

Kenneth R. Hartsock, age 71 of Noblesville and formerly of Elwood, died December 29, 2011 at Harbour Manor Health and Living Community in Noblesville following an extended illness. He was born July 11, 1940 in Elwood the son of Ralph R. and Ruth E. (McMinn) Hartsock. He worked in the maintenance department at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Noblesville for 20 years and retired in 2008. He also formerly worked at Continental Can Corporation in Elwood for 12 years. Kenneth attended Elwood and Frankton schools and later served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Anita R. Day on January 1, 1961. He was a member of the Lakeview Wesleyan Church in Noblesville and the Noblesville American Legion. Kenneth enjoyed fishing, walking, spending time with his grandchildren, talking with friends and family, reading the Bible, and studying history.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 51 years – Anita R. Hartsock of Noblesville; 3 Children – Matthew (wife Debra) Hartsock of Frankfort, Michael (wife Heather) Hartsock of Indianapolis, and Jennifer Foster of Noblesville; 3 Brothers – Robert E. (wife Frances) Hartsock of Sweet Home,OR, William R. (wife Joyce) Hartsock of Elwood, Thomas Hartsock of Sweet Home, Oregon; 3 Sisters – Rebecca (husband Stan) Alvey of Elwood, Nancy Alvey of Morriston, FL., Patricia Paschall of Elwood; 7 Grandchildren – Andrew Hartsock, Ben Hartsock, Caleb Hartsock, Sam Hartsock, Evan Hartsock, Kaylie Foster and Zoey Foster; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law – Moe Alvey.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 3, 2011 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Dr. Rich Schenck, Pastor Carol Schenck, and Rev. Stan Alvey officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery where military graveside honors will be conducted by the U.S. Military and the Elwood VFW Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 PM Monday, January 2, 2011 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Indian School in South Dakota through the funeral home.
