Kenneth "Doug" Crose, age 73 of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at St. Vincent Regional Hospital in Anderson following a brief illness. He was born December 30, 1945 in Hartford, CT the son of Kenneth L. and Mable Louise (Fedor) Crose. He was a graduate of John Marshall High School in Portland, OR, and later attended Anderson University for his Bachelors of Arts and Ball State University for his Master's Degree in English. Doug was a call service manager for AT&T for over 5 years, until he retired in 2010. He previously worked as a graphic designer for Warner Press for over 10 years and taught English at Bedford North High School for 2 years. Doug was a member of Aroma United Methodist Church, where he was a music minister. At church, Doug played the piano and the organ. He enjoyed gardening vegetables, fruits, and flowers, and he loved animals. Doug enjoyed reading, history, and especially enjoyed going to museums. He was always proud of his memorable trip to Auburn to visit the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum.
Doug's family includes his partner of many years, Elaine Petro of Noblesville; 2 children, Leah (husband Gregg) Zion of Indianapolis and Eric (wife Amber) Crose of Chicago; 2 sisters, Barbara (husband Steve) Risinger of Anderson and Dr. Ruth Crose (husband Kenneth Riportella) of Plainfield, VT; 2 brothers, Richard (wife Denise) Crose of Bedford and David (wife Brenda) Crose of Sun City, AZ; 3 grandchildren, Sawyer, Harrison, and Violet Zion; special dog, "Rico"; and several nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service celebrating Doug's life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Aroma United Methodist Church in Atlanta with Pastor Charlie Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Aroma Cemetery adjacent to the church. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Aroma United Methodist Church through the funeral home. Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
