Obituary

Kenneth B. "Kenny" Anderson, age 90 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Golden Living Center in Muncie following health complications, but a long, full life.  He was born on December 24, 1927 in Harodsburg, Kentucky, the son of Clayton and Ressie (Bottoms) Anderson.  Kenneth worked in production for Guide Lamp Corporation in Anderson for 23 years and retired in 1975.  He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.  Kenny was a lifetime member of the Elwood V.F.W. and the American Legion; a member of the U.A.W. #663 in Anderson; and member of the National Rifle Association.  He was a member of the American Speed Association, and raced cars himself in the late 50's through 70's.  He enjoyed watching NASCAR, and always rooted for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt.  Kenny formerly ran for mayor in Elwood in the 1980's, and was also a Certified Notary Public for many years at his home on Main Street.  He enjoyed collecting and working on old cars; and he repaired countless cars for people in Elwood.  He also formerly worked as a piano delivery person for several years.  Kenny never knew a stranger, and especially loved animals.  He had a number of pets through the years including a beloved dog, "Bo"; and was known to feed stray animals that needed fed.  His favorite restaurant was Pizza Shack in Tipton.  More than anything, Kenny was devoted to his family, a great provider for his family, and a person who valued hard work.  He will be greatly missed.

Kenny's family includes his wife, Judith K. "Kathy" Anderson of Elwood; 6 children, Sandra K. (husband John) Cooper of Elwood, Judy A. (husband John) Phillips of Anderson, Carolyn S. Stacey of Elwood, Kenneth E. (wife Judy) Anderson of Alexandria, Debbie L. (husband Rick) Johnson of Alexandria, and Angel M. Anderson (partner Courtney) of Rockford, IL; step-daughter, Sheryl Bugsby; 2 brothers, Tom "TC" Anderson of Fort Wayne and Charles Anderson of Michigan; sister, Irene Pointer of Silver Lake; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Kennyh was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Nancy Anderson; sister, Louise Browning; brother, Warren Anderson; step-son, Jim Stickler; and former wife, Elsie L. (Melchi) Anderson in 1965.

Following cremation, a graveside service celebrating Kenny's life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood with his son, Elder Kenny Anderson of the Elwood Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and V.F.W. honor guard at the cemetery.  Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home has been entrusted to care for Kenny's arrangements.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Animal Shelter through the funeral home.  Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
