Kay Imus Almarode, age 81 of Hanover, VA passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012. She was born December 27, 1931 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Carroll Charles and Fae (Markley) Imus. She married George Almarode on May 26, 1974, and she was a former resident of Elwood for several years before moving to Ruther Glen, VA. Kay was a retired executive assistant after many years of employment. She enjoyed gardening, caring for her pets, painting, and especially enjoyed playing bridge.
Her family includes 5 step-sons, Tom Almarode, Mike Almarode, Scott Almarode, Kevin Almarode, and Jon Almarode; step-daughter, Karen Maddox; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many special friends and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, George Almarode who died February 4, 2003.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Elwood City Cemetery with family members officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County SPCA, 2219 Crystal Street, Anderson, IN 46012. Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.
