Kathryn S. Legg, age 101 – a lifelong resident of Elwood, died peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood following a brief illness. She was born on May 20, 1912 in Elwood, the daughter of William and Lula (Hahn) Ballentine. She attended Elwood High School, and married Estel D. Legg on October 10, 1930. Kathryn retired in 1974 from Delco Electronics in Kokomo where she had worked for 22 years. She was a member of the U.A.W. #292; and a former member of the Hobbs United Methodist Church, the Elwood Garden Club, and the Fifty Plus Club in Elwood. She enjoyed playing Euchre, working cross-word puzzles, and especially spending time with her family.

Kathryn's family includes 3 children, Jeanette (husband Gene) Bogue of Alexandria, Nelda Hannah of Daleville, and Philip Legg of Sun City, CA; 9 grandchildren, Kathleen (Ron) Ukstins, Larry (Deborah) Bogue, Gary Hannah, Ron Hannah, Marlene Hannah, Karen (Matt) Proctor, Lor-Anna Legg, Shawn (Costa) LeSavvas, and Darrin (Heather) Legg; 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 46 years, Estel D. Legg who died in 1977; brother, George Ballentine; daughter-in-law, LaKeita Legg; and son-in-law, Wayne Hannah.

A funeral celebrating Kathryn's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Michael Deutsch of the First Baptist Church in Alexandria officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the funeral home.
