Kathleen A. O'Donnell , age 65 of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024 at her residence following an extended illness.  She was born April 6, 1959 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Marcus Wolke.  Kathy enjoyed being around people and always knew how to connect with anyone around her.  She never liked to stay in one place for very long, so traveling was just part of who she was.  Kathy lived in various states and Mexico through her lifetime.  If you would have asked Kathy, she would have said her favorite years were spent living in Mexico.  Kathy had a soft spot in her heart for animals.  Her two dogs, "Mable" and "Jemma" were her constant companions that she loved very much.  Kathy loved her family and her family of close friends.  She was a true free spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Kathy's family includes two children, Leah (husband Ben) Richardson of Elwood, and Michael (wife Stacy) Gruca of Peotone, IL; 3 siblings, Maureen Wolke of Harvard, IL, Margaret Wolke of Cape Coral, FL, and Steve Wolke of Joliet, IL; 2 grandsons, Austen Gruca, and Jackson Gruca; chosen sister, Terry (husband Scott) Osmolski of Harvard, IL; 3 nieces, Karen, Jessica, and Meghan; and former spouse, David O'Donnell.  Kathy was preceded in death by her father; first husband, Larry Gruca; and 2 uncles, Jack Renaud, and Vince Renaud.

Kathy's wishes were to be cremated with no formal service.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Animal Shelter through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
